For the Dart

into heart-opened darkness

wide open wild river side

shadow-matrix black melted

marble mirror world

my body is a body-song

bass-drum whale heartbeats

push ripples interlaced with ripples

into wherever into whatever

into forever yielding forever

let me touch space taste timeless

bless me hold me know me shoot

through me holy sunless bottomless

beginningless city and all the

bodies you see bodies of songs

singing their breath into the air

singing contact connect contact

sex and death and deepest sadness

horse-drawn cart-loads of tears

the heart crying into the water

water crying into the heart too

and I want to let go and sink lower

drop right down - way down

Like a stone into a well with only

water no bottom and no way out

down and down again into her

wet-smudged ink-feather plumage

bruised blue-black plum skin

cracking open opening to crushed

sloe-juice velvet tongued silk

jewelled streams within streams

and all the unseen untold things

the near-invisible perfect perfection

of ripples rippling indivisibly

fanned by arms hands fingers and

eyes open shock-alive wild

flint-sharp hungry for the light on

the surface that floods my mouth

now ears hear the sound of themselves

beneath water and i’m still there now

just to think of that place that sound

just to think of it and i’m still there

and i’m still there now
